BLCK XMAS

For Lamont, a routine night driving Uber is just another way to make a living—until being in the wrong place at the wrong time puts him in the path of the Shields family.

Behind the doors of their beautifully decorated home, Daddy and Mama Shields are preparing to give their daughter Samantha a Christmas she’ll never forget. Samantha is a young preteen fascinated with Black culture, especially hip-hop. And this year, Daddy Shields has decided to give his daughter exactly what she wants.

A Black man for Christmas.

Kidnapped and brought into the Shields home against his will, Lamont is stripped of his identity and given a new name: “Hip-Hop.” To Samantha, he is the ultimate Christmas present. To Daddy Shields, whose hatred of Black people runs deep, Lamont is something to control and humiliate. Mama Shields follows her husband’s lead, while teenage son David is eager to impress his father and torment his sister’s new “gift.”

Surrounded by Christmas lights, decorations, presents and holiday cheer, Lamont finds himself trapped inside a nightmare where his captors behave as though what they’ve done is perfectly normal.

But Lamont has no intention of becoming anybody’s property.

As Christmas inside the Shields home grows increasingly twisted and dangerous, Lamont must stay alive, outthink the family holding him captive, and find a way out before their holiday celebration becomes his last.

Blending horror, psychological suspense, dark humor and social commentary, BLCK XMAS turns the image of the perfect white Christmas upside down—revealing the racism, entitlement and cruelty hiding beneath the wrapping paper.

This Christmas, the Shields family got Samantha exactly what she wanted.

A Black Christmas.
